Discursive functions and constructionalization of independent "subordinate" sentences in Spanish

The topic under discussion in this paper is the syntax of sentences introduced by a subordinate conjunction (que, si, como) that have an independent function discourse. Some authors considered them insubordinate clauses. author discusses functions they perform Spanish discourse, especially reactive turns, and proposes macrosyntactic approach includes range structural possibilities: utterances, conventional constructions, or discursive operators. These possibilities depend on different degrees grammaticalization show: as semi-fixed constructions pragmatic markers.
